Actually I've noticed a couple things about the process. If I do make something that's current this year, I can get at least a couple years of good wear in before it starts to fade fashion-wise (assuming it's not just a turtleneck or something), and so I get more wear out of every piece. Also, I've been putting more effort into patternmaking, with the consequence that I make fewer different things. Since my sewing production is pretty pathetic, I end up with say 3 shirts from the same pattern this summer, and I can and do wear them to death. Works for me actually, and while I look more current I don't think it's any worse for the planet (ie my actual production hasn't increased, I'm just more pleased with the results).
But she's also right about not tucking the shirts. It's not a good look on most people.Marie-Christinenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15350975.post-10203131431266619862011-06-30T21:05:56.343-07:002011-06-30T21:05:56.343-07:00Those jeans are pretty groovy!

Perhaps your daughter could start sewing her own clothes too? :)
Thank you so much for your kind comment on my blog!Carolynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03156106727490224625noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15350975.post-43570700822402258422011-06-28T21:39:44.844-07:002011-06-28T21:39:44.844-07:00We used to tease my mom that she'd start somet...We used to tease my mom that she'd start something for my sister and by the time she was finished it would fit me.... but looking back, I think- she was working, doing all the cooking, a lot of the housework, AND finding time to sew. We should have shut up.Cloudhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09317847285050447789noreply@blogger.com
