The Onion nailed it.

  1. Ha!

I took Petunia to her 2 month check up today, and there was a poster on the wall showing emotional development in older children. I would have been happier not knowing what was coming.

Absolutely not too late! And if you don't want to hassle with the legal stuff, there's always boarding school :-). One semester of that can cure what ails you, I recommend a nice Catholic one, with no heating and little food..

  3. When my daughter turned 13 I felt the same way.

  4. My house is a mess. Would you consider selling her into indentured servitude?

Funny you should mention that. One of my mom's school chums was sold to another family when she was 9 yo. Her biological family wasn't interested in the plans of the wealthy family that bought her. Such girls typically end up as lifelong indentured servants (aka slaves) or as prostitutes.

It turned out that the wealthy couple were infertile and raised her as their own. When they died, they left their fortune to her. That's when her biological family came back to claim their share.

  6. @SM, I would consider selling her to you, but she wouldn't be very useful for housecleaning. I am not sure she is useful for anything right now. (In her better moments, she is good for comic relief.) But, right now, you need a housecleaning genie and not another mess-maker.

  7. Oh no! Children are definitely a challenge. I visited a college friend who just had her first baby a month ago and she's already ready to give him away! He's pretty darn cute though; I guess cuteness is a biological and evolutionary necessity for survival of the species.
